2026 Hispanic College Football Player of the Year Award Watch List Announced
Las Vegas, Nevada (August 26, 2026) – The Hispanic Football Hall of Fame (HFHOF) today announced the Watch List for the 2026 Hispanic College Football Player of the Year Award. Presented annually, the award honors the most outstanding college football player of Hispanic ancestry. The College Football Watch List recognizes 20 standout Hispanic athletes who are making a significant impact during the 2026 season. Each player has demonstrated excellence on and off the field.
"Hispanic athletes are driving the future of college football, and this Watch List ensures their extraordinary achievements get the national spotlight they've earned," said Ron Rivera, HFHOF Founding Board Member. “Their stories bring great pride to our community.”
The Inaugural recipient of the Hispanic College Football Player of the Year Award in 2025 was star Indiana University QB Fernando Mendoza. Mendoza led the Hoosiers to an undefeated season and the National Championship, won the Heisman Trophy, and was selected #1 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft to the Las Vegas Raiders.
"These players redefine excellence every week, serving as living proof to young fans that their dreams are within reach," said Anthony Muñoz, HFHOF Founding Board Member. "This Watch List honors where these athletes come from while shining a light on where the game is headed."
